Dr. Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) is perhaps the most popular character on Grey’s Anatomy, as she plays Meredith Grey’s best friend. The two really are the yin and the yang (pun intended) and they complement each other nicely. However, the two just got in a huge fight last week and it may have ruined their friendship.
Cristina is an interesting figure. She’s independent and driven, which makes it difficult for people (especially men) to get through that emotional barrier she puts up. This is why her marriage to Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) ended in divorce. Owen thought he could change Cristina and make her want to have kids, but Cristina was stuck in her ways. I have to say, though, that watching Cristina and Owen together is like watching a beautiful train wreck.
Sandra Oh is also less famously known for playing the role of Vice-Principal Gupta in the Disney movie, The Princess Diaries. This is one of my favorite movies and she brings humor to scenes that wouldn’t normally be funny. Her versatile attitude makes her capable of playing almost any role.
As Cristina, she has added her own personal touch to a TV show that has been running for ten years now. This is Oh’s tenth and last year on Grey’s Anatomy, which makes me incredibly sad because she’s one hell of a Cardiothoracic surgeon. I wish Oh all the best in her future acting endeavors.
“If I murdered someone, she’s the person I would call to help me drag the corpse across my living room floor. She’s my person.”-Dr. Cristina Yang
